Imagine

Living in a city with the world’s best medical care in your backyard: cancer care, advanced surgery, and women and infant services. Imagine access to leading-edge technologies, to investigational therapies, and to the latest in minimally invasive surgical procedures. UC San Diego Health System has imagined this future–and is, in fact, well on its way to realizing this vision. The Jacobs Medical Center is the apex of this vision and will effectively meet the needs of our local, national and global communities.

Construction of Jacobs Medical Center officially started in January 2012, although leveling the ground and preparing the worksite took place months ahead. The project involves the construction of a 10-story, 509,500-square-foot building and a separate 40,000-square-foot central plant, as well as the renovation of 65,000 square feet of the existing Thornton Hospital.
