Special Instructions: Broom-type collection device is recommended in all cases. For patients without a cervix, a vaginal cuff specimen is recommended. Insert collection device into endocervical canal, rotate device five times in a clockwise direction, drop detachable head into fixative vial. Complete a Cytopathology requisition to include all pertinent clinical findings as well as the provider's PID number. Label the fixative vial with the patient's name and medical record/patient numbers.  HPV subtyping will be performed as a reflex test on cases with atypical cytologic diagnosis (ASCUS, ASC-H, AGUS-endocervical) unless otherwise specified by the provider.
