!!!Specimen must be placed in warm water (37 °C) and
delivered to the laboratory immediately!!! 1) The specimen must be incubated for
at least one hour at 37 °C in a heat block or water bath prior to
centrifugation. 2) Centrifuge at room temperature. 3) Transfer the serum to a
secondary properly labeled tube and refrigerate. 4) If the specimen has already
been processed (incubated and serum removed) the appropriate transport is on
ice, then store specimen in the refrigerator. 5) Cryoglobulin-protein
quantitation will be performed only when the cryoglobulin screen shows the
presence of protein precipitation. If the quantitative protein level is greater
than 15 mg/dL, a rheumatoid factor will be performed on the cryoglobulin
supernatant and the serum. |
