Sample Requirements:

Each blood tube or individual container must be labeled with:
|
|
- Patient's legal full name
|
|
- At least one of the following identifiers:
|
|
Medical Record Number
|
|
Date of Birth
|
|
Social Security Number
|
|
HIC Number
|
|
Reference ID Number
|
|
- Draw Date / Time
|
|
- Phlebotomist signature
|
|
- Vials containing lymph nodes, spleen, or other tissue must also be
individually labeled.
|
|
|
|
All
samples must be maintained at room temperature. Do not
refrigerate. All samples must be delivered to the lab as soon as
possible. Cell surface markers on day of collection.
|
|
|
|
|
|
***SPECIMEN
REQUIREMENTS:
|
|
|
|
Yellow Top
(ACD-A) Tubes (10 ml):
|
|
- Avoid hemolysis.
|
|
- Keep at room temperature - Do not refrigerate.
|
|
- Mix gently but thoroughly.
|
|
- Tubes may be obtained from ITL. Call lab to request.
|
|
- Bone Marrow specimens must be mixed well after aspiration.
|
|
- Samples for Immunophenotyping by Flow Cytometry must be received in lab
on the day of collection.
|
|
|
|
GREEN TOPS
(Heparin):
|
|
- Samples for Cell Surface Makers must be received in lab on the day of
collection.
|
|
|
|
BONE
MARROW SPECIMENS:
|
|
- Mix well after aspiration.
|
|
|
|
BIOPSIES/TISSUES
(Lymph Nodes, Spleen):
|
|
- Preserve in RPMI medium with HEPES buffer.
|
|
- maintain at room temperature
