Managing the Role of Stress in Our Lives. Struggling With What It Is.

Stress is an inherent part of modern life, and it can take quite a toll if allowed to run unchecked. Steve Hickman, director and founder of the UC San Diego Health System recently-established Center for Mindfulness, shares techniques for looking at stress from a new perspective and responding to it in an objective, non-judgmental way by focusing on the present. Dr. Hickman discusses some of the major sources of stress and how our perceptions of them change as we grow older. He explores the mental and physical processes we experience in conjunction with stress, and teaches us practical skills that can be used to manage the way we respond to stress under a wide variety of circumstances.
