Psychiatric Associates

Mental Health Services for Adults

Psychiatric Associates at UC San Diego Health System, established in 1983, is a private practice based mental health service for adults in the San Diego area.   Psychiatric Associates is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers.  Most of our clinicians are also faculty members in the UC San Diego Department of Psychiatry.

Psychiatric Associates offers:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric and psychological evaluation
  • Medication treatment
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Specialized group therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety Disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mentalization-Based Therapy.
  • Couples and family therapy
  • Psychiatric consultations on patients referred by outside clinicians

We also offer a Low-Fee Resident Psychotherapy Clinic.  Psychotherapy is provided at a greatly reduced fee by UCSD psychiatry residents, under close supervision by UCSD faculty. Ask for “Resident Psychotherapy Clinic.”

Subspecialty programs include:

Anxiety Disorders Clinic, which provides diagnostic evaluations, medication treatment, and specialized cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for patients with various anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Somatoform Disorders Clinic, which provides assessment and treatment for patients suffering from complex somatoform disorders, chronic pain, and medical-psychiatric conditions
