• Best Hospital in San Diego: UC San Diego Health is ranked the No. 1 hospital system in San Diego and tied for No. 1 in California for 2023-24 by U.S. News & World Report.
• National Honor Roll: We also made the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals National Honor Roll for 2023-24, placing us among the nation's top 22 hospitals for the outstanding quality of our patient care.
• More Top-Ranked Specialties: UC San Diego Health again ranked among the nation's best in 10 adult medical and surgical specialties on U.S. News & World Report's 2023-24 survey — more than any hospital system in San Diego: Cancer (20); Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery (23); Diabetes & Endocrinology (39); Ear, Nose & Throat (14); Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (18); Geriatrics (17); Neurology & Neurosurgery (21); Obstetrics & Gynecology (15); Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (9); and Urology (32).
• Among the Nation's Top Academic Medical Centers for Patient Care: For the fifth straight year, UC San Diego Health was named a top performer in the Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership annual ranking by Vizient. The 2023 recognition reflects the superior quality of our patient care in key areas.
• Top Marks for Hospital Safety: UC San Diego Health hospitals in La Jolla and Hillcrest once again earned top marks from The Leapfrog Group in the fall of 2023 for keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
• Top Docs: More than 100 UC San Diego Health physicians in 50 specialties were named "Top Docs" in the San Diego Magazine "Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" survey for 2023, an annual opportunity for doctors across the region to vote for much-admired colleagues.
• Nursing Excellence: We maintained Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, considered among the highest recognitions for nursing excellence and innovation in nursing practice.
• Outstanding Stroke and Diabetes Care: We earned the 2023 American Heart Association's / American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and are listed on its honor rolls for Stroke Elite Plus, Stroke Advanced Therapy and Type 2 Diabetes.
• Excellence in Maternity Care: Our obstetrics & gynecology care is ranked among the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for 2023-24. We are also recognized as a 2023-24 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care, which is the highest award a hospital can earn from U.S. News & World Report for obstetric and infant care. 
• Information Technology to Enhance Patient Care and Comfort: UC San Diego Health was named a Level 9 "most wired" hospital in both the acute and ambulatory categories by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) in 2021. These distinctions recognize our efforts to focus on technology strategies that support meaningful outcomes for our patients.
• LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader: We scored a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Index in 2022.
• Environmental Sustainability Leader: UC San Diego Health holds Practice Greenhealth's highest honor for hospitals, which is awarded to industry leaders in all-around sustainability performance.
