Mona Sonnenshein, Chief Operating Officer |

Ms. Mona Sonnenshein joined UCSD Medical Center as Chief Operating Officer in May 2006. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations at New York University Medical Center, where she oversaw daily operations for an 878-bed teaching hospital with 5,000 employees and 2,000 physicians.
Ms. Sonnenshein has a Masters in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, from Baruch College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, and a B.S. in Health Sciences and Medical Record Administration from Hunter College in New York.
She has held management positions at NYU Medical Center since 1996, and
worked previously at Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Services
City Hospital Center at Elmhurst.
As COO, Ms. Sonnenshein is responsible for providing leadership and direction for both of UCSD's hospitals, and is accountable for the day-to-day operational and financial performance. She is also a key leader in our Power of Excellence journey, overseeing service delivery and promotion of a patient-centered and service oriented culture.
