Chief Administrative Officer – Clinical Programs UC San Diego Health System
Julie E. Croner is the chief administrative officer (CAO) – Oncology and Radiation Therapy Services at UC San Diego Health System. Ms. Croner provides leadership and direct oversight for all ambulatory clinical operations within oncology, including UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center and its clinics, radiation oncology, Perlman Medical Offices oncology clinic, Hillcrest Medical Center Infusion Center and cancer services at the multi-specialty clinic in Encinitas. In addition, Ms. Croner will be responsible for the Hospital for Cancer Care in Jacobs Medical Center, projected to open in 2016.
As CAO, she is responsible for all inpatient and outpatient aspects of the operating budget and financial performance, growth, clinical operations and collaboration on billing issues related to clinical research. She is also a standing member of the Health System’s Executive Management Team and all related clinical service councils.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health System, Ms. Croner served as executive administrator at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Norris Cancer Hospital, part of the Keck Medical Center. Among her many contributions in that role, she created a council of physician leaders to manage clinical program growth, clinical integration and operational restructuring. The council was a vital component of the partnership created among hospital administration, division chiefs and department chairs.
Previously, she held several leadership positions at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, including vice president of Business Development and Strategic Planning and administrator for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disease.
Ms. Croner is a senior health care executive with extensive experience in academic, nonprofit health systems. For more than 25 years, Ms. Croner has devoted her time and expertise to graduate students as a guest lecturer, preceptor, mentor and member of the Professional Advisory Council for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of Health Policy and Management. She has also served as a board member with the UCLA Department of Health Policy and Management, and the UCLA Alumni Association. Outside of her work, Ms. Croner is an active volunteer and has facilitated Board retreats for community nonprofits.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education and Behavioral Science and earned her Masters of Public Health, Health Policy and Management from UCLA.
