The Shopping Benefit at Bloomingdale’s on October 29, 2009, was a huge success thanks to all of our supporters and the UC San Diego Medical Center’s employees that rode the shuttles to the event.
A special THANK YOU to Larry McGill, Sylvia Gonzalez, Virginia Lizama, Jana Fortune, Jennifer Harris, Dennis Goodrich and Ray Osborne and their teams for coordinating the day with the transportation to and from Bloomingdale's. Also, thank you to Vicky Newman from the Moore’s Cancer Center for her lecture on “Fighting Cancer with Your Fork”.
We had 124 people donate the $10 and our grand total came to an unbelievable $9, 210.50. With the UCSD Medical Center’s Match Challenge, this amount doubles to $18,421.00!
Thank you all for your participation, as you can see your $10 did make a dynamic difference.

Bannister Family House provides a home away from home for families of patients undergoing long-term care at UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest and Thornton Hospital in La Jolla. The non-medical atmosphere of the house provides a retreat from the stress of keeping a constant bedside vigil at the hospital. Families have a chance to meet other families in similar situations and develop a support network necessary to sustain a loved one through serious illness.
The mission of Bannister Family House is to provide affordable lodging and supportive services for out-of-town families of patients who have come to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest or Thornton Hospital in La Jolla due to serious injury or illness. It is a haven of comfort and hope for weary families who share similar experiences and concerns in friendly, homelike surroundings close to the hospital. |
