Nutrition Services

The Healing Foods Kitchen

The Healing Foods Kitchen offers cooking classes that teach participants how to prepare easy and healthy recipes using foods that promote health and help fight disease. Classes include demonstration, discussion about ingredients and cooking methods, tasting, recipes, and educational hand-outs. Class topics change every month. Registration is required by telephone or online. View a schedule of upcoming classes.

Monthly Nutrition Lectures

Monthly Nutrition Lectures are offered on two topics: “Fighting Cancer with Your Fork” provides an overview of nourishing foods essential for health and healing, and tips on how to incorporate these easily into your life; and “Nutrition During Cancer Treatment” focuses on managing treatment-related nutrition and digestion challenges. These classes are free of charge. Register for an upcoming lecture.

UCSD Healthy Eating Telephone Support Program

UCSD Healthy Eating Telephone Support Program offers personalized coaching and support designed to help you adopt a diet that will promote health and fight disease. This program is focused on long-term dietary behavior change and is particularly for patients who have completed initial therapy. It includes a dietary analysis and consultation, personalized one-on-one telephone counseling, educational materials, self-monitoring tools, and recipes. This program has a fee. Consultation with a Clinical Dietitian

Consultation with a clinical dietician is available for patients undergoing treatment and experiencing dietary challenges including loss of appetite, nausea, difficulty swallowing, constipation, fatigue, and significant weight loss. There is a fee for consultation however many insurance plans reimburse for this service. A physician referral is required prior to scheduling an appointment.
