WE FOCUS ON YOU
You are more than your illness. At the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, we treat the whole person, not just the cancer.
Shortly after your first doctor appointment, your case – with all its nuances – is reviewed by members of our multispecialty medical team, who design the therapy and follow-through that will be tailored specifically to you as an individual. In addition, at your initial visit you become part of the nation’s first systematic, privacy-encrypted, touch-screen evaluation survey that rates your various sources of physical and mental distress, such as pain, fatigue, fear, money worries, transportation concerns and more. The results are immediately transmitted to your physician, nurse and social services, so that everyone is ready to address your specific concerns.
DISCOVER THE POWER OF ACADEMIC MEDICINE
One of the primary benefits of an academic medical center is the team approach to clinical care. At UCSD, you don’t have just one physician. You have a team that works together and stays with you throughout the journey.
In our role as San Diego’s only academic medical center – and one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designed Comprehensive Cancer Centers – we have a wide array of resources and access to knowledge. Our medical professionals are world-renowned specialists in pancreatic cancer who have written the textbooks and treatment articles used by others. In addition, we take advantage of new technologies and therapies not generally available.
