Collect in a sterile container and
send fresh to the laboratory. A Cytopathology requisition form must be filled
out completely to include pertinent clinical history and the requesting
physician's pid number. The routine silver stain run is scheduled for 9am.
Specimens for the routine 9am silver stain run must be received in the
laboratory by no later than 8:30am. After 8:30am they will be stained the
following working day at 9am unless it is requested to be a "rush" case. For
"rush" or "same day" cases to include those for silver stain the specimen must
be received by the laboratory at Hillcrest no later than 12:30pm and "rush" written
on the requisition form with the pager number of the requesting physician.
Write, "rule out fungus and/or pnuemocystis carinii" if these organisms are
suspected. |
