This test should be ordered when: 1.
Gestational age is <34 weeks. 2. The specimen is visibly contaminated with
blood, meconium, or bilirubin. 3. The specimen is "vaginal pool" and is
contaminated with maternal urine. The chemistry laboratory will determine if the
specimen is contaminated with maternal urine. A blue fetal diagnostic lab
request must accompany every specimen sent to specimen central receiving and
processing (SCRAP), room 2-117. |
