Obtain BBL Cultureswab Plus from the
Microbiology lab. See wound culture for collection technique. Swabs should be
submitted to the laboratory only when aspirated purulent fluid, exudate, or
biopsy material cannot be obtained. If swabs are submitted, one swab should be
provided for each procedure requested. Requisition must state specific site of
specimen and clinical diagnosis. AFB wound cultures will include an acid fast
stain. All acid fast isolates will be identified to species level, and
susceptibility tests will be performed. |
