All placentas from in-house
deliveries are to be taken to the placenta room (2-716) and placed on the right
hand side in the placenta storage refrigerator. Placenta examinations: a.
Infants admitted to the nicu: complete a "request for placental examination"
form and take it to the placenta room (2-716). Pull the corresponding placenta
from the right hand side of the placenta storage refrigerator and place it on
the top shelf on the left hand side (labeled "for examination"). Place the
request form on the counter for surgical pathology. These examinations do not
include "boarders". B. Ob physician request for examination: complete a "request
for placenta examination" form and take it to the placenta room (2-716). Pull
the corresponding placenta from the right hand side of the placenta storage
refrigerator and place it on the top shelf on the left hand side (labeled "for
examination"). Place the request on the counter for surgical pathology. C.
Infants for autopsy: escorted by security transport the infant and the placenta
to the morgue. |
