Method: Immunochromatographic Assay (BinaxNOW)
Special Instructions: NASAL or NASOPHARYNGEAL (NP) SWAB:

Insert an NP swab (Dacron, rayon, or polyester) beneath the inferior turbinate of either nare and vigorously rub and roll against the mucosal surface. Remove the swab from the nose and insert the NP swab, tip down, into the paper swab wrapper. Transport to the lab as soon as possible. Dry

NASAL ASPIRATE:

Insert a depressed bulb syringe deeply into either nare and suction while withdrawing. Expel specimen into a sterile cup. Transport to the laboratory as soon as possible.

PCR

Use copan UTM  transport medium with the swab in the kit. Collect sample using the swab provided in the kit. Insert swab into the copan transport. Transport to the lab with the influenza A/B Rapid detection swab.
