Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Thornton ICU (Intensive Care Unit) in La Jolla, specializes in caring for Medical/Surgical Intensive Care patients. In addition we care for a variety of patients that include Oncology, BMT, cancer related surgeries and sepsis patients. 

Ideal Candidates:

We require a CA RN license with CPR (BART) and ACLS (ART) certifications. Candidates with CCRN, CRRT, Chemo certified, experience with Bone Marrow Transplant patients and Oncology are preferred. Successful candidates will have acute care experience, the personal commitment to provide exceptional care to high acuity patients and their families, and vision to support community wellness.

Hospital and Unit Shared Governance Committees on the Thornton ICU include Education, Competency, Preceptor, Magnet, Critical Care, and Code Blue.

New Grad Training Program:

We offer a new grad training program about 4 times a year which includes 3 months of training on the unit, enrollment in the AACN Critical Care internship program which includes 2 classroom days and 2 days on the floor.
