Strike Information for Patients
To Our Patients and Their Families:
Between Monday, March 3 and Saturday, March 8, some of our unionized employees will be on strike. You may hear increased noise levels and see picket lines on the public sidewalks around the hospitals or at our clinics.
This action is related to ongoing contract negotiations between the unions and the entire University of California (UC) system. It will affect all five UC medical centers, including UC San Diego Health System.
Your care is our highest priority. While we have added staff to maintain our commitment to caring for you and improving your health, it is possible that you may experience delays in tests or treatments. During the strike activity, labs and imaging services will be limited. We apologize for these circumstances and are doing everything possible to minimize the impact on you and your family.
We regret that we will have to reschedule some procedures because of the strike activity. This decision was a difficult one to make, but necessary to ensure an optimal patient experience. Please contact your doctor directly if you have questions about rescheduling.
