Under the leadership of Mark Wallace, M.D., the UCSD Center for Pain Medicine has developed a strong clinical research program strongly linked to preclinical work.
Among the current areas of research are the pharmacology of experimental pain states and alternative therapies for pain, including acupuncture.
Clinical trials are also conducted on a wide variety of pain management therapies.
