Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases
In 2011 the Division of Endocrinology/Metabolism was
ranked #25 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for treatment of diabetes and endocrinology. The division provides consultation, diagnosis and management of endocrine and metabolic diseases, including:
- Diabetes mellitus and obesity
- Disorders affecting the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal cortex and reproductive organs
- Calcium and skeleton mineralization and metabolism
- Hypertension due to endocrine causes
- Disorders affecting cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism in relation to atherosclerosis
Special services include:
- The provision of glucose monitoring and insulin pumps for diabetics
- Diabetic education
- Supervision of diabetic management in the hospital
Specialized diagnostic procedures for:
- Genetically determined and secondary hyperlipoproteinemias
- Dietary counseling
- Drug management programs
