UCSD Medical Center boasts a multi-disciplinary team specializing in esophageal, gastric, and other foregut organ disease processes. Using a combination of laparoscopic, endoscopic, robotic, and open surgical approaches to these problems, this team improves patient care by incorporating technological advances and basic science research in the treatment of esophageal disease.
Intraluminal approaches to some disease processes, including endoluminal plication and radiofrequency energy application, have been investigated at UCSD with the hope to further improve patient care and safety.
