Family medicine specializes in exactly that – the care of you and your whole family. Family Medicine has been around since the beginning of the medical profession, and family doctors have always known their patients as individuals -
each with their own personal background, family, culture and community. All these aspects are important to a person's healthcare because they can affect how medical problems are experienced, how an individual deals with them and the way each patient interacts with his or her physician and medical care team.
The practice of medicine has seen amazing “high tech” advancements in the past half-century. But family doctors strive to remain “high touch” too. As a famous physician early in this century, Francis Peabody, once said, “the best way to take care of a patient is to care about the patient.” This is still a great motto for today.
