H-Pylori Breath Test

CHECK IN INFORMATION:
  •  Check in at the Out Patient Registration desk prior to coming to the West Wing to register 
  •  Bring a current ID and insurance card to the Registration desk.
PREPARATION FOR PROCEDURE:
  •  Two Weeks(14 DAYS) before the test, you should stop taking:
    •  antibiotics of any kind
    •  proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Protonix, Nexium, Aciphex, Prevacid
    •  H2 blockers such as Zantac, Ranitidene, Tagamet, Cimetidene, Pepcid
    • Antacids such as Carafate, Maalox, Mylanta, Tums, Rolaids
    •  Pepto - Bismol
  •  Do not eat or drink anything for at least four hours before the test. 
  •  Please brush your teeth before the test, but not use mouth wash.
  •   The test will take about 15 minutes to complete.  You will blow into an air collection bag, then drink a lemon flavored drink.
  •  After 15 minutes you will blow a second time in an air collection bag to complete the test. 
  •  You may drive yourself home before and after the test since no sedation is involved.
  •  Allow ample time for parking and bring single dollar bills for self paying parking
