UCSD's Cardiomyopahty Center's affiliations with the UCSD Cardiovascular Center, the Divisions of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Pulmonary Vascular Medicine and expand available treatment options for all patients of all ages.
The treatment options include expert use of available (and investigational) medical therapies, complex or investigational medical and surgical procedures and the aggressive use of left-ventricular assist devices.
The Cardiomyopathy Program provides expertise in:
- Symptom management
- Lifestyle and diet education
- Medication titration
- Optimization of therapy
- Management of difficult cases
- Appropriate selection for cardiac transplantation
UCSD's Medical Center's Cardiomyopathy Program is the focal point for key clinical research trials in chronic heart failure. Our approach to patient care is considered state-of-the-art and incorporates the clinical expertise of nationally recognized leaders in both cardiovascular and heart failure research.

The UCSD Cardiomyopathy Center has two locations:
Clinics are held daily for patient convenience, as well as a need for frequent follow-up.
A physician is on call after business hours for heart failure emergencies.
