Geriatric Medicine: Health Care for Older Adults |
|
Dedicated to Promoting Healthy Aging
The UCSD Geriatric Medicine program consist of internists with special training and certification in geriatrics. This group provides general health care to seniors including primary care, internal medicine, health maintenance, diagnostic evaluation, acute and chronic care and medical consultation.
Geriatric medicine is not specifically for the frail and very elderly. In fact, the geriatric medicine practice at UCSD Medical Center has been designed to help adults transition gracefully into their 6th decade and to help keep them healthy throughout their senior years. As your body ages, your health care needs change. It's important to work with a physician with unique expertise in treating the range of unique senior health needs. If you are an older adult, speak to your internal medicine physician about transitioning to the Geriatric Medicine practice.
