The Coordinator is your advocate within UCSD Medical Center, and can help you access all of the special services you would expect from a world-class healthcare center.
When you initially request your referral to UCSD Medical Center, the Coordinator will first guide you through the process for becoming a patient.
During the process of becoming a patient and throughout your care, the Coordinator is interested in knowing how we can help you with any special needs or requests. Your Coordinator can also help make sure that your medical team members respond to any medical coordination needs or concerns that you express.
Your medical requirements will be reviewed and assessed before your arrival in the United States. Our medical coordination starts with the following:

Matching your medical needs and provider requests with the best provider

Arranging routine to specialty appointments and inpatient admissions

Scheduling of comprehensive physicals that includes VIP service

Arranging medical record reviews

Working with your home physician to discuss your complete medical history and arrange for a referral

Providing translation services for any medical literature

Preparing a report that includes treatment plan, length of stay and approximate cost.
Medical coordination is usually conducted before making financial arrangements.
Interpreter & Transportation Services
At your request, UCSD Medical Center will arrange for you to have an interpreter available throughout your medical care, helping you communicate with your medical team, arrange follow-up visits, understand presription medication instructions, and more. We can even assist you in securing a driver who speaks your native language, so that you and your family members can comfortably explore San Diego.
We will be happy to provide assistance to you and your family regarding directions, entertainment and accommodations, and special dietary requests.
Follow-Up Care
When it is time for you to return home, UCSD Medical Center will put together a complete package of information for your personal physican, which will detail your follow-up care, medications, and a translation of the procedures performed while you were a patient at UCSD. Your personal physician is welcome to contact UCSD at any time to address any concerns which may arise.
