Meet the Psychologists for the UCSD Gastric Band Program
Dr. Perry is the president of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) and a Fellow of both NAN and the Society for Personality Assessment. His primary clinical responsibility is as the Associate Director of the Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Service at the UCSD-Medical Center. Dr Perry has worked extensively in the psychological assessment of candidates for bariatric procedures. Dr. Delia Silva Annie Reader, M.A. Annie Reader received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology in 2006 and is part of the California School of Professional Psychology's Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. She has joined CTO as part of her graduate studies program, and currently participates in patient evaluations. She also gives the psychology presentation on a rotating basis at our free seminars for prospective patients.
Dr. William Perry is a Professor of Psychiatry and the Chief Supervising Psychologist at UCSD Medical Center. Dr Perry received his Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego in 1989. He completed his Internship and post-doctoral Fellowship at UCSD.
Dr. Delia Silva is a neuropsychology post-doctoral scholar at UCSD Medical Center and part of the psychiatry team at the CTO in which she conducts pre-surgical evaluations as well group therapy for bariatric patients. Dr. Silva earned her Psy.D. from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. She underwent a previous fellowship program to specialize in neuro-rehabilitation with patients with brain and spinal cord injuries. Dr. Silva, who is fluent in Spanish, has worked with a diverse range of clinical populations with psychiatric or neurological disorders in both assessment and psychotherapy.
