The foundation and core of the Center for Mindfulness is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as it was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D and the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Kabat-Zinn and his program were featured prominently in the award-winning PBS television series Healing and the Mind, and the profound effects of this work have begun to be strongly supported by a large body of scientific research.
At UC San Diego, our aim is to continue and extend this work in a variety of ways, detailed in the pages of this website. We invite you to browse our virtual home and get a sense of what mindfulness is and how it might be learned and taught.
