Diagnosis and Treatment
New patients are interviewed to obtain a detailed history of their headache syndrome. A neurologic exam is then performed and, pending the results of the exam, an MRI may be ordered to rule out headaches caused by medical conditions, including temporal arteritis, pseudotumor cerebri, hydrocephalus. Once we are assured that the headache is not related to an underlying medical condition, the neurologist will discuss available treatment options.
