Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center

Established in 1984, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at UC San Diego Health System is one of the first programs of its kind in the nation. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. It is a progressive and debilitating disease, and more than five million Americans are believed to have AD.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at UC San Diego Neurological Institute translates the latest research into improved diagnosis techniques and treatments for people with AD. The Center provides education, support, events and other resources to people living with AD and their families.

ADRC works in unison with UC San Diego Health System’s Memory Disorders Clinic. The Memory Disorders Clinic specializes in diagnosis and management of a wide range of disorders of memory and thinking, including AD. The clinic provides innovative treatment from leaders in therapeutic research for cognitive disorders.

ADRC and the Memory Disorders Clinic give families access to the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study (the largest academic Alzheimer’s clinical trial program in the world).

UC San Diego Health System is turning discoveries into new methods for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Read more about AD at the UCSD Shiley Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center website.
