In Person Prescription Refills

Due to changes in federal regulations, there are requirements that determine which UC San Diego Health System pharmacy can fill prescriptions based on where a patient’s care was provided.

If care was provided at the following locations, then prescriptions can be filled at any of our six retail pharmacy sites or through our mail order program:

UC San Diego Health System - La Jolla

• Thornton Hospital
• Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center
• Moores Cancer Center

UC San Diego Health System - Hillcrest

• UC San Diego Medical Center
• Medical Offices North
• Medical Offices South

If care was provided at the following locations, then prescriptions can no longer be filled (but can be picked up) at Medical Center Discharge, Moores Cancer Center Retail, or Medical Offices - South Pharmacies. All prescriptions generated from these facilities can be filled at any UC San Diego Medical Group Pharmacy.

UC San Diego Health System - La Jolla

• Family & Sports Medicine - La Jolla
• Internal Medicine - La Jolla
• Perlman Medical Offices
• Shiley Eye Center

UC San Diego Health System - Hillcrest

• 4th and Lewis Medical Offices

UC San Diego Health System - Scripps Ranch

• Primary Care - Scripps Ranch 

A non-UC San Diego Health System facility

If a prescription must be filled at a different pharmacy from where it is requested to be picked up (i.e., Medical Center Discharge or Moores Cancer Center), please allow additional time to complete the order. New prescriptions or prescription refill requests submitted by noon each day are usually ready after 3 p.m. However, 24 hours notice is preferred so that if there are any issues, they can be resolved before you or the patient arrives to pick up the prescription.
