Primary care physicians at UCSD Medical Center provide a full range of services for adults and children of all ages. In addition to providing preventive health care and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, many UCSD primary care physicians also specialize in other areas of medicine. Family medicine physicians provide care to the complete life spectrum from newborns to geriatrics. Some family medicine physicians provide obstetrical care, sports medicine and mental healthcare; while internal medicine physicians may offer subspecialty care in cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism, nephrology and hypertension, and allergy and clinical immunology.
Programs such as Medicine for Seniors and SOCARE (Seniors Only Care) -- both offered by our internal medicine group -- are designed to provide further attention to the specific needs of seniors as they age.
When more than routine care is needed, primary care physicians will refer patients to UCSD’s renowned specialists or provide patients with access to state-of-the-art facilities at UCSD Medical Center or UCSD Thornton Hospital.
When you choose a UCSD family medicine, internal medicine or pediatric primary care physician, you can be assured of receiving the highest quality care from a team of physicians who are all faculty members of the UCSD School of Medicine. Our physicians are educating the primary care physicians of tomorrow in addition to providing excellent clinical care to you and your family today.
