The course fee for the UCSD Center for Mindfulness' Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program is $450, typically payable on the first day of class.
However, we also have established a policy that we will do everything possible to avoid turning away anyone with a genuine interest and motivation to participate, if the cost is the only thing preventing them from participating.
If you are interested in participating in an MBSR class and have some concerns about the cost of the program, please let us know after you have attended one of the Mandatory Informational Sessions and we will work with you to find some arrangement that will allow you to participate. In the past we have arranged to accept payments over the course of the 8 weeks, and in some cases have been able to reduce the fee.
Insurance Coverage: Since we have opted to be flexible in reducing our fee for those who cannot afford to participate for the full $450, we are unable to bill your insurance for your participation in the MBSR class. However, many participants have "flex saving/spending" accounts through their employers that allow them to get reimbursed for participating in stress-reduction programs. We will gladly provide you a receipt for your payment that you may be able to submit to get reimbursement.
UCSD Employee Discount: Employees of UCSD are eligible for a reduced fee of $250.
Trainees in the Medical or Mental Health Field: If you are interested in attending the MBSR program as part of your professional training, we have a limited number of "scholarships" that allow you to attend for a special reduced rate. Contact us to find out the specifics.
