Neurointerventional radiologists use microcatheter techniques for the following:
- Thrombolysis in acute stroke
- Treatment of aneurysms with microcoils
- Embolization of arteriovenous malformations
- Intraarterial therapy of intracranial and head and neck tumors
They perform percutaneous biopsies of the spine and head and neck lesions, discograms, vertebroplasty, epidural and nerve root injections.
