Stroke is the third leading killer and the most common cause of adult disability in the United States.

Joint Commission's Gold Seal Of Approval

UCSD Stroke Center has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™

Every year, more than 750,000 Americans fall victim to stroke; more than 60,000 in Southern California. About 150,000 Americans die annually; most of the remainder are left crippled and dependent on others for basic needs.

When a stroke happens, minutes matter. That’s why the UCSD Stroke Center is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week, providing an immediate response when a stroke patient comes to UCSD Medical Center.

The UCSD Stroke Center was founded to discover, develop and deploy new treatments for stroke. We offer acute stroke resuscitation and patient management, as well as a comprehensive stroke prevention program. For more information about our services follow the links to the left, or to schedule an appointment, call  (858) 657-8540.
