Garth Jacobsen, M.D., Hernia Center Director
Dr. Jacobsen has extensive experience in the application of minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques in both the clinical and research arenas.
"Abdominal wall and groin hernias represent a complex and uncomfortable problem which can be debilitating for patients," says Dr. Jacobsen. "I have had a career-long interest in the application of cutting-edge surgical technology to the repair of abdominal wall defects. I am well-versed in traditional surgical approaches and specially qualified to provide a minimally invasive approach if possible. Each patient is considered individually and we will work to plan the best repair available today.

Santiago Horgan, M.D. Dr. Santiago Horgan, Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, is an internationally recognized expert in robot-assisted surgery and other minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is a pioneer in the surgical treatment of morbid obesity as well as a specialist in surgery and physiology of the esophagus.

David Easter, M.D., F.A.C.S., Residency Program Director David Easter, M.D. received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in Connecticut. He performed his surgical training at University of California, San Diego and then pursued fellowship training in laparoscopy in Edinburough, Scotland. He serves as our Residency Program Director with a special commitment in the training and education of our medical students and residents.
Dr. Easter is board certified by the American College of Surgery. Dr. Easter’s general surgery practice focuses on minimally invasive surgery.

James Chao, M.D., F.A.C.S. James Chao, M.D. is a native of California and is a plastic surgeon. Dr. Chao received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and is fellowship trained in Hand Surgery at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center. He is board certified by the American College of Surgeons and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Chao is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Dr. Chao's interests include repair of complex abdominal hernias, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, body contour surgery, and the development of new technologies in the field of plastic surgery. He accepts new patients by referral only. |
