Classes and Support Groups

Information Meeting (Transplant 101)

Held three to four times a month in English and Spanish, Transplant 101 meetings provide a complete overview of kidney transplantation at UC San Diego Health System. We encourage pre-transplant patients and their family and friends to join us for this 90-minute session. Topics include your hospital stay, clinic visits, medication management, financial issues and the responsibilities of your care partner. Offered four times a month in English and Spanish by our transplant coordinators. For a current schedule, call 619-574-8612.

Transplant 102

Kidney Transplant 102 is a class about the transplantation process. Transplant patients share stories and questions. Here, you can come to understand what to expect the first three months after transplant. Families and friends are welcome. This class is highly recommended for all pre-transplant patients and their care partners. Offered every month in English and Spanish by a post-transplant nurse and transplant social worker. Contact Chris Frederici Hines, LCSW, at the Center for Transplantation for more information.  Call 619-574-8612.

This is an informal gathering to exchange information, ideas and experiences related to the challenges of ESRD, transplant and waiting for a transplant. Pre and Post-transplant patients and families are welcome. This support group is co-facilitated by a transplant social worker and transplant nurse. For a current schedule, call 619-574-8612.
