The Burn Center at UC San Diego Health System is an accredited level 1 pediatric and adult burn center by the American College of Surgeons and American Burn Association. Burn centers are specialized centers devoted to the care of people who experience burns and critical soft tissue conditions.

The Burn Center provides leading--edge treatment to residents of San Diego and Imperial Counties who have experienced major or minor burns. Each year we admit approximately 450 burn victims and we treat hundreds more as outpatients in the burn clinics.
Led by Bruce Potenza, MD, the multidisciplinary team at UC San Diego's Burn Center responds to the complex medical issues experienced by burn patients. Our specialized staff has advanced training in the sophisticated and skilled care needed by seriously injured patients. Our dedicated team includes experts in plastic and reconstructive surgery, nutrition, social work, psychology, pain management, child life, and physical and occupational therapy.
The Regional Burn Center provides comprehensive care to burn patients from resuscitation in the burn intensive care unit, through rehabilitation in outpatient clinics. We are committed to caring for people touched by burn injury through numerous support programs for patients and families.
