Adrenalectomy (Removal of the Adrenal Gland) |
|
UCSD's urologic surgeons perform laparoscopic adrenalectomy for a variety of adrenal diseases, including:
- pheochromocytoma
- functioning adrenal adenoma
- metastatic cancer to the adrenal
- large adrenal adenoma
- adrenal cysts.
Laparoscopic adenalectomy has rapidly become the gold standard in surgical removal of the adrenal gland. With this minimally invasive approach, patients have significantly reduced pain and hospitalization when compared to open removal of the adrenal gland.
