Planning Your Care Together

The UCSD Diabetes in Pregnancy Service uses a team approach in caring for our patients. The team consists of the following members:

Obstetricians who will manage your pregnancy, and determine the best plan for delivery, consulting with staff perinatologists (obstetricians who specialize in high-risk pregnancies)

  • A diabetes nurse educator, who will teach you about diabetes, how to monitor your blood sugar levels and how to administer insulin, if necessary
  • A dietitian, who will help you plan menus that are nutritious and acceptable to you and your family.
  • A social worker who will assist you with any personal, family or financial needs you may have
  • Clinical nurses and clerical staff who will arrange clinic and test appointments

We want you to be a partner in your own team. Together, we will plan your care so that you and your baby get the best possible attention.
