About Endometriosis
Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological diseases, affecting more than 5.5 million women in the United States. An estimated 2 to 10 percent of women of reproductive age have endometriosis. (National Institute of Child Health & Human Development)
Endometriosis is a chronic disease without a known cure. It is associated with significant morbidity and is a leading cause of hospitalization for gynecologic surgery.
Women with endometriosis commonly suffer from painful periods, pelvic pain during intercourse and pelvic pain at other times. They may also suffer from difficulty conceiving, requiring specific fertility therapies.
