Women's Pelvic Medicine Center

About Incontinence and Pelvic Floor Disorders

One in two women will suffer from incontinence or prolapse at some point in her life, while one in four will undergo some type of treatment. While not a life-threatening condition, incontinence can certainly have a profoundly negative effect on a woman's life.

The UCSD Women's Pelvic Medicine Center is the region's first center designed exclusively for the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Since the program's inception in 1998, hundreds of women with conditions such as incontinence and prolapse have found relief at UCSD.

Incontinence is one of the most common, yet least discussed, problems among women today. Fortunately, it can be cured or improved with a variety of simple treatments.
