Menopause

As your body changes, menopause often presents its own set of challenges.

The Menopause Program at UCSD Medical Center is a multidisciplinary service designed to meet the complex needs of women who are approaching or have experienced natural, surgical or premature menopause.

Services Include:

  • Complete medical history
  • Physical examination
  • Mammography
  • Bone densitometry
  • Hormone replacement therapy

Adequate time is allowed for discussion of issues related to signs and symptoms of the menopause as well as hormone replacement therapy.

Patient appointments are scheduled at the UCSD Perlman Ambulatory Care Center by calling (858) 657-8745.

Menopause Discussion Group

Each month, UCSD's Department of Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology sponsors a Menopause Discussion Group to provide information and education to women who are seeking treatment for symptoms of menopause. Topics to be explored in the supportive atmosphere of other women like yourself include:

  • Feelings about aging, sexuality, changing roles
  • Hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia and depression
  • Hormone replacement therapy; alternative/complementary medicine
  • Cancer fears, surgical menopause
  • Relationships, personal growth.

NOTE: The Menopause Discussion Group is on a temporary hiatus for program improvements.
