Prenatal Care

Learn about your options for prenatal care below. To schedule a visit with an OB-GYN or certified nurse-midwife, call 858-657-8745 (La Jolla) or 619-543-7878 (Hillcrest). If you are new to UC San Diego Health, call 800-926-8273 to register as a new patient and for assistance in choosing a provider.

bullet Nurse Midwifery Service

Our midwives can be found in clinics throughout San Diego. We partner with the Department of Reproductive Medicine, so patients have the option of giving birth in the home-like atmosphere of the UC San Diego Birth Center, or in traditional Labor & Delivery rooms.

bullet Fetal Ultrasounds and Testing

No matter who you choose for your care provider, the Fetal Care & Genetics Center will perform ultrasound screenings using the latest imaging technology. The center also provides prenatal and genetic counseling, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and fetal growth assessments, when appropriate.

bullet Specialized Care for High-Risk Pregnancies and Multiples

Twin Babies

If your pregnancy needs specialized care, our team is ready to assist. We are experts in a wide range of complex maternal-fetal conditions, and will work with you to achieve a healthy pregnancy. Among the conditions we treat are pregnancies of twins and other multiples, fetal anomalies, or maternal conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or lupus.
