Student Nurse Parking

To ensure a smooth and hassle-free parking experience before your clinical shift, please review the following instructions carefully.

Do I need to pay for parking?

  • Paid parking with ParkMobile is only required for the La Jolla and Hillcrest campuses.
  • Parking at East Campus is free.

Parking for current UC San Diego Health Employees

If you are a UC San Diego Health employee, please continue using your usual parking process.

Day Shift Parking

When student nurses are onboarded, they are assigned an Active Directory (AD) login (used for EPIC access), which automatically generates a UC San Diego Health email address. Your email will be your AD login followed by @health.ucsd.edu (e.g., johndoe@health.ucsd.edu).

To access ParkMobile and receive applicable discount codes, you must create your ParkMobile account using your UC San Diego Health email address. Once registered, you will be eligible to purchase "B" parking permits through the app. View "B" permit one-day parking rates.

Need Help?

If you are experiencing access issues, please contact our customer service team for assistance.

ParkMobile Trouble During Your Shift

If you encounter any issues with the ParkMobile app during your clinical site time, please do NOT use the ParkMobile account (screenshot the ParkMobile error) and risk getting a parking ticket.

If you get a ticket, please appeal the citation through our parking site: Appeal a Citation (ucsd.edu) with evidence (screenshot) that your ParkMobile was not working and state in the comment section that your name is on the "Student Nurse Whitelist".

Night Shift Parking

If you are scheduled for night shifts, the Daily Night & Weekend Permit may be the most convenient option.

Alternative Options

For some, consecutive day permits and 10-day permits are preferred. These can also be purchased through the UC San Diego Parking Portal > Get Permits.

  • A consecutive day permit (minimum 30 days) may be a more convenient and cost-effective option if you are regularly working shifts or will be here for 1 month.
  • 10-day permits are only valid when activated through ParkMobile. Please see the Transportation Services website for details.
