Administrative Fellowship Preceptor

As chief of staff for UC San Diego Health, Matthew leads key initiatives in support of the chief executive officer’s operational and strategic priorities to advance the organization’s mission and vision. Additionally, Matthew leads the enterprise-wide Project Management Office (PMO) to enhance performance management by improving operational efficiencies and reducing costs across UC San Diego Health.

Matthew also serves as the chief of innovation and transformation. In this role, he spearheads UC San Diego Health’s new technology integration strategy and leads the integration of new and innovative technologies designed to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve the quality of care and patient experience.

With experience in establishing performance management infrastructure, designing leadership development programs, and creating strategic business plans, Matthew’s skill set provides a well- rounded resource as preceptor to the fellowship program. Matthew serves as a mentor to the fellows, connecting them to innovative project opportunities and health system leaders. His leadership style challenges fellows to explore the wide range of administrative roles throughout the organization, while developing their ACHE Healthcare Executive Competencies. Matthew’s support, guidance, and experience offer a strong foundation to the UC San Diego Administrative Fellowship.

Marie Webber, MHSA, FACHE Marie J. Webber, MHSA, FACHE
Administrative Fellowship Preceptor

Marie serves as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Women and Infants, Psychiatric, Radiology, Neurosciences, and Ophthalmology services for UC San Diego Health, providing executive leadership over all clinical and ambulatory operations for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science, Psychiatry and Ophthalmology.

Prior to coming to UC San Diego Health, Ms. Webber most recently served as the administrative director of operations at UCLA Health System and previously as the CAO and CFO for the UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology. Marie also has experience in revenue cycle operations and change management consulting for billing offices at university health systems and large physician group practices throughout the country.

Marie’s years of experience working with Administrative Fellows helps guide her support and development of fellows by equipping them with the proper resources to complete substantive, challenging, and meaningful projects and learning opportunities over the course of the year. Marie meets with Fellows regularly to provide guidance and mentorship in her commitment to and passion for developing future strategic and operational leaders in alignment with ACHE’s leadership competencies.
