Hillcrest 10 East Telemetry

Scope of Service/Type of Patients:

The patient population on 10 East consists of high acuity medical, cardiac, and neuro/stroke patients.  Interventions include, but are not limited to, continuous cardiac monitoring, continuous IV infusions (E.G. herapin, amiodarone, bumetanide, diltiazem, dopamine, furosemide, milrinone, nicardipine, octreotide), non-invasive mechanical ventilation (BIPAP/CPAP), and management of alcohol withdrawal.  The cardiology and stroke serve teams reside on the unit and 10 East team members work closely and collaboratively to provide our patients with excellent clinical care.

Who We Are:

10 East has a broad mix of nursing staff. We have new graduate nurses just starting their journey into the nursing profession as well as seasoned nurses with over 20 years of experience.  Our nurses educational backgrounds vary from ADN to BSN to MSN.  Nurses on 10 East also participate in shared governance councils at both the unit and organizational levels, contributing to the overall goals of UC San Diego Health's Nursing Strategic Plan, the development of professional nursing practice and improved quality outcomes. 

10 East is proud to have been recognized each of the last 4 years at UC San Diego Health's Nursing Excellence Awards.  Our awards have included Nurse of the Year and Nurse Leader of the year!

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates are those with an active CA RN license, ACLS (ART), and 2-5 years of recent experience as an acute care RN.  Preference is given to those with BSN/MSN degrees, recent experience with cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation, and PCCN certification.
