Neuro-Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit-NBMU

 

Type of patients and scope of practice: Acute inpatient unit which provides quality, safe and evidenced based care to patients with Psychotic Disorders, Mood Disorders and Depressive Disorders.

Nurses are vital and active members of our multidisciplinary treatment team. Along with individual therapy and medication management our program provides the following to name a few: Group therapy, Phototherapy, Pet therapy, Music therapy, Sleep Hygiene, Addiction, Discharge Planning, Relaxation therapy and Yoga.

Location: Hillcrest Medical Center – West Wing

Number of Beds: 18

Ideal Candidates: BSN with a minimum of year experience in an acute psychiatric care

Specialty programs or certifications: RNC in mental health nursing or similar specialty

Training programs: Preceptor and on unit orientation and training.

Brief description/culture: Nurse are encouraged and supported to pursue career ladder in place as well as complete research and evidence based projects. Nurses are also encouraged and supported to obtain their Masters Degree.
