- Delivery Options: We offer the most birth choices in San Diego County.
Birth Center: Our Birth Center is the only in-hospital center dedicated to unmedicated childbirth on the West Coast.
Volunteer doulas: We're one of the only hospitals in San Diego to offer a volunteer doula program to laboring mothers.
Lactation consultants and breast pump rentals: We're nationally known for actively supporting families who choose to breastfeed.
Nationally recognized Maternal-Fetal Care and Genetics: Board-certified specialists in our Maternal-Fetal Care and Genetics provide coordinated care from pre-conception through birth, including prenatal and genetic counseling regarding amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and ultrasound results.
Specialized care for high-risk pregnancies: We have specialized perinatal care for complicated pregnancies, twins and multiples, and maternal conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or lupus.
Level III NICU: UC San Diego Health has the only regional Level III NICU within a birthing facility in San Diego, plus a Level II Intermediate NICU at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest for babies who need short-term intensive care.
